Zanesville District Golf Association’s season schedule set to heat up

ZANESVILLE – The Zanesville District Golf Association season will be in full swing in the coming weeks.

The ZDGA, which has served Muskingum and its neighboring counties since 1977, hosts golf events and offers scholarships to senior graduates each season. Its season kicked off last weekend with the annual two-man best ball tournament in Jaycees, where Tyler Baughman and Andrew Geyer teamed up for the title.

Potential players must reside or be graduated from a high school in Muskingum or its bordering counties – Coshocton, Guernsey, Licking, Morgan, Noble and Perry.

All entry forms can be found at ZDGA.org or at any golf course in the area. Forms can be mailed with the registration fee (without cash) to ZDGA, PO Box 2453, Zanesville, 43701.

Here is an overview of the event schedule:

Amatuer

The ZDGA flagship event will take place from June 12-13 and June 19, with the first round scheduled for Cambridge Country Club and the second at Jaycees, the latter being the Zanesville Country Club.

The field will be cut after two rounds, for men and women, depending on the number of participants. Two carts per group will be available at each class at an additional cost; shopping carts are also allowed.

The cost is $ 90 per player. The registration deadline is June 12 – mailed registrations must be postmarked by this date.

Junior amateur

The event has raised over $ 150,000 in scholarships for university-related seniors since its inception and has included college players for the past two years.

This year’s two-course, 36-hole event will take place July 27 at Vista and July 28 at EagleSticks. The game will begin at 9 am in Vista with a shotgun start; The start times for Round 2 at EagleSticks will begin at 10 a.m.

Players will compete in four divisions: boys and girls aged 12-18 and men and college men and women aged 19-22. Players will be sent off after the first round, with the overall winner coming from the championship flight.

The cost is $ 25, which also includes lunch each day and a departure gift. Scholarships for seniors at university will be awarded based on the total number of participants.

The registration deadline is July 20. Mailed entries must be received by this date to be eligible.

Senior amateur

The 54-hole racing event, for ages 50 and over starting August 14, will take place August 14 in Vista, August 15 in Jaycees and August 21 at ZCC, with the final cut on the field depending size. of the field.

Two divisions are available – 50-64 and 65 and over. Champions can be from either flight, but must play designated ZDGA tees during the event.

The cost is $ 90. Carts are included on Vista and Jaycees only, but are available for an additional fee from ZCC.

The registration deadline is August 7th.

14 years old and under

The annual 14 and under event takes place July 14 in Green Valley, with tee times starting at 9 a.m.

Players will be divided into three age categories – 13-14 boys and girls, 11-12 boys and girls, and 10 and under boys and girls. The 10U course will play nine holes.

The field will compete on six flights depending on age and gender.

The cost is $ 25, which includes the starting gift, lunch and drinks.

College tournament

The 18-hole stroke play event in Green Valley, scheduled for September 25, is open to teams from Muskingum and surrounding counties, but is not limited to schools in the district.

Prizes will be awarded to the team champion and finalist and to the individual medalist and finalist. The teams with the four lowest combined scores will be designated champions. Six players per team are allowed.

The cost is $ 10 per player, which includes the starting gift, lunch and drink. The registration deadline is September 17th.
