Rugby Championship: Australia extend winning streak with comfortable win over Argentina
After an equally contested opening period, the Pumas block Tomas Lavanini’s sin for knocking out a striker from the roster proved costly for the visitors, as Wallabies hooker Folau Fainga’a immediately crushed a maul rolling to give his team the advantage 8-0.
A few minutes later, Australia took advantage of their one-man advantage again, with Kellaway taking advantage of a hit to score the Wallabies’ second try.
At the end of the first half, the Pumas converted a simple penalty attempt from Emiliano Boffelli to head into the interval with a 15-3 delay.
The Wallabies started the second half in an ideal way, as the perfectly synchronized running ball of the top five Quade Cooper sent Samu Kerevi on a clear run to the line to extend their advantage to 20-3.
In the 54th minute, Kellaway took advantage of the Pumas’ weak midfielder defense for his second try, before securing his hat trick a few minutes later, thanks to another long precise pass from Cooper.
As the final quarter of the game began, the Pumas finally broke the chalk thanks to replacement mainstay Thomas Gallo, who took advantage of an extra eight minutes to mark his test debut in style.
Australia will now pack their bags and head to Europe – via a stopover to take on Japan – where they will face Scotland, England and Wales.
