  • Dixon Trophy Ranking (Fall 2021)

Shippensburg University currently sits sixth in competition for the 25th annual Dixon Trophy until the end of the 2021 Fall Championships season. The Dixon Trophy is awarded to the best track and field program in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC).

The Dixon Trophy ranking is based on an average score for each PSAC Championship sport sponsored by an institution. The trophy has not been awarded since the summer of 2019, as the 2019-2020 and 2020-21 campaigns featured full seasons canceled due to the ongoing pandemic.

Shippensburg’s average score is 10.79 points. Eight fall sports were used in the PSAC’s first report, of which the League sponsored seven: men’s and women’s soccer, men’s and women’s cross-country, football, field hockey and volleyball. Men’s golf was also used in the PSAC fall rankings.

SU’s top sports were field hockey, which won the 2021 conference championship, and men’s cross country, which placed second at its conference championship.

The trophy is named after F. Eugene Dixon Jr., former Chairman of the Board of Governors of the National Higher Education System, of which 14 PSAC universities are members. The Dixon Trophy will be presented after the spring sports season.

Shippensburg has won the Dixon Trophy in a conference record eight times and was the first school to win the trophy three years in a row, winning it in 2003, 2004 and 2005.

Seven PSAC Championships will be contested during the 2021-22 winter season: Men’s and Women’s Basketball, Men’s and Women’s Swimming, Indoor Track and Men’s and Women’s Wrestling. The next Dixon Trophy leaderboard update will be released after the basketball championships in March.
