Presho to Host 75th Annual South Dakota Amateur Basketball Championship Saturday & Sunday – Mitchell Republic

PRESHO, SD — The city of Presho is preparing to host the 75th annual South Dakota Amateur Basketball Association state tournament.
Sixteen teams from the state’s Class B and C divisions will converge on Presho this weekend for 22 games over two days.
Saturday’s action will begin with a classification round for both classes, before moving on to parenthesis play. Placement matches will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday for Class C and 12:30 p.m. for Class B.
All quarter-finals will be played on Saturday for Class C, while the Class B quarter-finals will be split between Saturday and Sunday.
During halftime of the evening games, 2022 Hall of Fame inductees Brock Rops, Larry Brown and Cody Volmer will be recognized.
On Sunday, the semi-final matches will continue from 11:00 a.m. The Class C championship will be played at 5:00 p.m., followed by the Class B championship at 6:20 p.m.
As part of their 75th anniversary celebration, Saturday will also feature a “Legends” game, a HORSE competition and a social hour. Former amateur tournament players competing include Keith Moore, Kevin King, Lynn Frederick, Rick Rozelle, Lonni Stover, Kevin Lien, Scott Kusler, Keith Gall, David Ellwein, Scott Bosanko and Keith Kusler.
Teams participating in this year’s Class B tournament include: Corsica Rexwinkel Concrete, Dell Rapids, Huron, Lennox Plains Commerce Bank, Mount Vernon/Plankinton, Pierre/Murdo Hunt Ranch, Watertown Foothills and Wolsey Warbirds.
Class C entries include: Faulkton, Lake Preston New Horizon Lounge, Pierre Owaksape, Presho Wolves, Redfield Haider Construction, Sioux Falls Average Joes, Warner Aberdeen Farmers and Watertown Waterboys.
