El Paso County Parks 50 Years Celebration Hikes – 50 km series of hikes for 50 years. Registration required: communityservices.elpasoco.com/50k-50-years.

SATURDAY

Woodland Park 5K and 10K Walk – Hosted by the Falcon Wanderers Walking Club, departs 8:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m., Ute Pass Cultural Center, 210 E. Midland Ave. Stollers can do both walks, wheelchairs can travel 5 km with some difficulty, animals on a leash are allowed on the trail, free; Converse Curt, 591-8193.

Nature

• Expedition camp: Nature Makers, for 10-12 year olds, July 19 to 23, $ 305.

• Discovery Camp: Eyes on the Sky, for ages 9 to 11, July 26 to 30, $ 305.

• Nature adventures: beautiful butterflies, for ages 3 to 6 with an adult, 9 am to 10:30 am, Thursday to Friday, $ 3 per person.

• Active Adults: Wisdom, Wood and Wine, Craft a Home Decor Piece from Recycled Wood that will include a Favorite Quote from a Famous Naturalist, Saturday 1 pm to 4 pm. Alcoholic drinks are BYOB, $ 20-25.

• Wooden cookie scavenger hunt, find a wooden cookie to commemorate the 50th anniversary of El Paso County Parks and bring it to the nature center for a 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on July 24. No registration required.

Colorado Bird Watching Trail – Coloradobirdingtrail.com lists places to see birds and wildlife.

Colorado Wolf and Wildlife Center – 4729, chemin Twin Rocks, divide. Limited tours available. Register: 687-9742, wolfeducation.org.

Rock Ledge Ranch Historic Site – 3106 Gateway Road. Living history programs available with tours, demonstrations and hands-on activities.
