Armstrong and Werner win Green Wave QB Club golf tournament

Gallatin High School golf coach Mickey Armstrong and Gallatin graduate Colton Werner took first place in the annual Green Wave QB Club golf tournament on May 17.

The duo shot a 22 under by 122 (60-62) to win the championship flight.

Former Green Wave greats Daryl Holt and Jim (Footsie) Grantham finished second with a score of 125 (63-62). The first flight honors went to Billy Taylor and Nathan Pruett who shot 12 under par 130 (68-62) to barely beat the team of Mason Taylor and Larry Buettner, who finished second at 131 (67-64 ). Mike and Theresa Harber finished with an under par 137 (71-66) to win the second steal, beating former Green Wave coaches Billy Nolan and Don Porter who shot 139 (72-67). Kellie Carver and Ryan Goad won the third robbery with a nine under 137 (73-62) beating James Garver and David London who shot a 145 (75-70) for second place. David London, Ryan Goad, Nathan Pruett and Herb Tuck all won Closet to the Hole honors.

The tournament brought together 48 teams who were honored with a steak dinner after qualifying on Saturday. The Quarterback Club would like to thank the 53-hole sponsors for their support of the Green Wave athletic programs and the Gallatin Country Club for hosting the 37th annual tournament.

TN Grasslands holds circle 9

TN Grasslands Ladies Golf held their Circle 9 event on May 18, 2021 and Paula Walker emerged victorious with a score of 35. Circle 9 is where the pro shop selects nine holes and players subtract half of their handicap. . The event winners are listed below.

Premiere: Paula Walker (35)

Second: Nancy Corbett and Brenda Mathis (36.5)

Third: Terri McAngus and Cindy West (37)

Division A: Terri McAngus (79 – low gross); Toni Oppenheimer, Debbie Page, Paula Walker (70 – low net).

Division B: Cindy West (89 – low gross); Barb Einarson (67 – low net).

Division C: Barbara Moore (98 – low gross); Valerie MacLeod, Jeff Smith (74 – low net).

TN Grasslands hosts Better 9 event

TN Grasslands Ladies Golf recently had its best game day of 9 of 18 on April 20. The event is where players choose their best nine holes (front or back) and deduct half of their handicap. The results are listed below.

First: Cindy Hopper, Debbie Page (32)

Second: Carman Schirmers (32.5)

Third: Terri McAngus (34)

Division A: Terri McAngus (71 – low gross); Debbie Page (70 – low net)

Division B: Barb Einarson (90 – low gross); Cindy Hopper (72 – low net)

Division C: Linda Bishard (95 – low gross); Susan Jensen (71 – low net)
