Local businesses are invited to add some sparkle to Christmas to brighten up their community.

The North Tyneside Business Forum (NTBF) is running a competition that aims to make people feel good in their workplace and encourage customers to visit them.

Any business in North Tyneside is eligible to enter the contest and the winner, to be voted on by the public, will be announced on Monday, December 13.

Participating businesses are urged to upload photos of their festive exhibitions to Twitter and Facebook, and use the hashtag #NTBFChristmasCheer and the tag @ntbusinessforum, before registration closes on Sunday, December 5.

The winner will receive £ 500 in business advice which can be used to benefit the company for services such as website design, coaching, social media marketing, public relations and graphic design.

Linda Scott, who runs L&S Gifts, has been decorating her window for 10 years. She said: “It’s amazing the reaction you get from passers-by when they see the Christmas display.

“It also encourages them to stop, look at the store and enter.

“It’s a feel-good factor for me as a store owner as well as bringing people to The High Street.”

Karen Goldfinch, president of the NTBF, hopes the competition will show that businesses are fully reopened after the pandemic.

She said: “This is a great way to include all of North Tyneside businesses in this year’s festivities.

“It hasn’t been an easy 18 months for many companies, and now is the time to show everyone that we are fully open for business again, by encouraging customers to come to our stores, offices and locations. working to see the decorations. “
