Several Norfolk restaurants are preparing to raise the red flag for the 7th ‘Great Hot Cocoa War’, a week-long competition to see who has the best hot chocolate in town.
According to the Downtown Norfolk Council, participating restaurants will be offering four-ounce servings of their special hot chocolates for $ 2 each. People can then vote for their choice in an online poll.
The competition started in 2015 as an overnight event. Norfolk town center spokeswoman Jessica Kliner said it had been extended to a full week in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, allowing people visiting restaurants to expand.
The competition begins on Saturday November 20 and lasts until Saturday November 27.

Kobros Coffee has also confirmed their participation with an Instagram teaser featuring the 2012 Batman movie “The Dark Knight Rises”. The cafe gave a stern warning to other competitors, saying it was “taking names.”

Final votes will be counted at 5:00 p.m. on November 27 and the winner will be announced the same day. The prize is a custom designed championship belt.
