MDC Robotics wins 2 medals at the Nat’l Skills Competition

Qualified young tech-voc students from Metro Dumaguete College (MDC) have won two gold medals at the 2021 Philippine National Skills Competition of the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) in Taguig City .
Gold medalists Dreamerson Garay and Camia Faye Duran for Mobile Robotics and Jerson Villares for MDC’s Floristry category also received a cash prize of P30,000 and certificates from TESDA.
Dr. Delma Manila, President of the MDC, said the gold medalists will begin their series of training and preparations for the Global Skills Competition in October 2022 in Shanghai, China.
More than 400 young talents participated in 39 business areas to compete for a place to represent the Philippines in the upcoming international skills competition.
“MDC is able to produce talent that can compete internationally and despite the challenges we have, our students come from different sectors or have financial difficulties, but are interested in learning for their government-funded education” , said Manila.
MDC has over 1,200 TESDA Scholars enrolled in the tech-voc degree program which includes software engineering and digital arts technology leading to a bachelor’s degree in computer science; and Diploma in Tourism Technology leading to Diploma in Tourism Management.
