As a result of this partnership, the chocolate brand was named the main sponsor of the 2021 season of the league. In addition, KITKAT CHUNKY will launch a campaign around the principle of taking a break during play sessions.

The University e-League is a national esports league of universities and colleges in Malaysia. The University e-League will consist of two stages – Qualifications and the grand finale – to be held from July 9 to August 15, 2021.

The event sees participating institutions compete through titles such as DOTA 2, League of Legends: Wild Rift and Mobile Legends.

The University e-League has a combined prize pool of RM20,000 (~ £ 3,445). Registration for the event is now open.

According to the statement, this is KitKat’s first foray into the Malaysian esports scene. Earlier this month, the brand extended its partnership with the European League of Legends (LEC), while also reading the deal which includes 12 European regional leagues.

In addition, KitKat has also partnered with a Spanish esports organization Vodafone Giants and a Brazilian League of Legends competition, CBLOL.

Esports Insider Says: It’s great to see some great brands, such as KitKat, partner of university esports initiatives. What’s even more fascinating about this deal is the chocolate brand’s decision to enter the Malaysian market, and more specifically with its KITKAT CHUNKY product. Given the growing popularity of mobile esports, this might just be the start of KitKat expansion.
