Junction City was established at the confluence of the Republican and Smoky Hill rivers and formed the Kansas (or Kaw) River. It is a historic frontier town with roots in the movement of cattle and the construction of railways. Located along the western edge of the Flint Hills. A vital part of its past and future is its proud connection to the US military base at Fort Riley, home of the 1st Infantry Division, Big Red 1.
Geary County, where Junction City is located, is the fifth most diverse county in Kansas (out of 105 counties) and is a county with the second largest share of its population under the age of 17. Residents are proud of Junction City’s history, military affiliation, diversity and renewed vibrancy.
Designers are encouraged to take inspiration from these elements to create a unique, interesting and fun logo that embodies the spirit, history and future outlook of Junction City. The Board of Directors seeks a unique atmosphere that can serve Junction City for many years to come.
