The Blackstone Great Griddle Off is a cooking competition run by industry-leading cooktop maker Blackstone Products to find undiscovered cooking prodigies who use Blackstone products in their creations. The Wisconsin cheesesteak he won with includes locally sourced bratwurst, peppers / onions, beer cheese, sauerkraut, and peppers served on a hoagie.
Out of 180 entries in the lunch / dinner category, Sykora came out on top and then beat the winners of the other three categories to remain the last man standing in the competition. Sykora’s earnings include a prize pack that includes Blackstone accessories, a place in the Blackstone cookbook, a virtual cooking session with a celebrity chef TBD, and now the prize for the Golden Spatula (a 24 carats).
“My desire to continue cooking was aroused again,” said Sykora. “It could lead to other kitchen projects in the future and it shows me that I have what it takes to compete with some of the great chefs we have in this country.”
With the Gold Spatula award in tow, Sykora said he plans to pursue his passion for cooking in addition to continuing his career in insurance and raising a family.
