IHSAA Reveals State Tournament Section Pairings | Sports

The IHSAA hosted its annual state football tournament pairing show on Sunday as all five Gibson County high school football teams learned where their trips to the state tournament would begin.
Princeton Community and Gibson Southern Boys Soccer
The Tigers and Titans men’s soccer teams will head north to Washington to begin their Class 2A tournament journey in Section 30.
PCHS will face Pike Central in the first round. The Tigers were defeated 1-0 by the Chargers in their regular season game. With a win, the Tigers would face the winner of Southridge and Washington in the semifinals.
The Titans secured a first-round bypass and will face Vincennes Lincoln in the semifinals. The two teams haven’t faced each other during the regular season, but the Alices have won only one game this season and Gibson Southern will only have one loss.
Gibson Southern hosted last season’s section that featured the same six teams.
The Tigers were knocked out by Washington in the first round, while the Titans beat Vincennes Lincoln in the semifinals and Washington in the league to claim the section crown.
Princeton Community Girls Football
The Lady Tigers 2A State Tournament journey will begin with a clash against conference rival Pike Central in the first round of Class 2A Sectional 30 hosted by Jasper.
In their regular season game, the Lady Chargers beat PCHS 1-0 in Petersburg.
If PCHS can avenge his regular season loss to Pike Central, he will face Vincennes Lincoln in the section semifinals. At the top of the table, Jasper will face Washington in the other game of the semi-finals.
Last season, Princeton hosted the section and beat Washington in the first round before being beaten by Vincennes Lincoln in the semifinals. Jasper beat Vincennes in the championship game to win the section.
Gibson Southern Girls Soccer
Lady Titans’ quest for a Class 2A State Title will begin in the Class 2A Section 32 Semifinals.
Gibson Southern has parted ways with the seven-team section to be hosted by Evansville Bosse at the EVSC Soccer Complex in Evansville.
The Lady Titans will face the winner of Boonville and Evansville Mater Dei. Gibson Southern beat the Lady Pioneers 7-0 in their regular season game, but lost to Mater Dei 3-1 at home on September 9. At the start of the game on Monday, the Lady Titans have not lost a game or allowed a goal since then.
If they win their semi-final game, the Lady Titans will face the winner of a semi-final game which will include first-round winners Mt. Vernon vs. Heritage Hills and Evansville Bosse vs. Evansville Memorial in the championship game. .
Last year the section was also hosted by Bosse at the EVSC Soccer Complex in Evansville. The Lady Titans beat the Bosse 9-0 in the first round, but were later beaten by Heritage Hills in the semifinals. Heritage Hills won the section by beating Mater Dei in the Championship game.
Wood Memorial Boys Soccer
The Wood Memorial soccer team will start the Class 1A tournament against Forest Park.
The Rangers will host Section 48 Class 1A which comprises eight teams.
Other round one clashes include North Posey vs. Evansville Day, South Spencer vs. Northeast Dubois, and Tell City vs. Shoals. With a win over the Rangers, the Trojans would face Tell City winner Shoals.
Last season, Northeast Dubois hosted the section where Wood Memorial beat Tell City in the first round and then were beaten on penalties by South Spencer in the semifinals. Forest Park won the section with a victory over South Spencer in the Championship game.
