Fast and Furious Event in Workington for the West Cumberland Orienteering Club
A quick and furious sprint saw the West Cumberland Orienteering Club continue their series of Thursday night events at Workington.
On the 3km Vulcan Park course, British orienteer Dan Spencer set the tone, taking the victory in an impressive time of 15:22.
In second, Charlie Rennie showed good form to finish in 16:16 and Joe Sunley took third in 16:26.
The first senior was Jamie Rennie, fourth at 17:57.
On the women’s side, Caitlin Irving finished first lady in 10th, Caitlin Pearson in 12th and Kate Charles in 17th.
On the short 1.8km course, the competition was exceptionally tight and dominated by the junior members of the club, with no less than six riders within a minute of winner Wilf Teasdale who took the win in 08:55.
Emma Crawford was second in 8:58 am, Issy Sunley third in 9:03 am, Danny Winterbottom fourth in 9:15 am, Daniel Heppell fifth in 9:29 am, Daisy Rennie sixth in 9:30 am and Isaac Hunter seventh in 9:53 am.
The first senior hen was Carl Hunphreys in eighth and the first senior hen was Sally Heppell in 12th, ahead of Rebecca Crellin in 13th and Kamila Winterbottom in 15th.
Club events are expected to continue every Thursday, with mandatory pre-registration.
