Speculation about the rule changes began in August 2022, when several contest pages claimed that a memo announcing the changes to the eligibility rules had been sent to the national contest directors. The Miss Universe 2022 pageant is the 71st edition of the pageant. The coronation night is confirmed for January 2023.
