(WHNT) – Students at two historically black colleges and universities in northern Alabama (HBCUs) show off the best the region has to offer.

Oakwood University students and Alabama A&M University has qualified for Round 8 of the Honda Campus All-Star Challenge – a nationwide academic competition between HBCUs. The challenge brings together teams of four students from participating universities and pits them against a head-to-head competition with questions on history, science, literature, religion, math, arts, pop culture and the sports.

Lane closures expected at Redstone Arsenal Gate 9

Beyond the series of questions, students are challenged to broaden their scope of knowledge on a wide variety of topics, while developing leadership and collaboration skills – both among themselves and with other students. other HBCUs and Challenge alumni.

Both universities will take part in the competition on Sunday, April 10, which will be broadcast on the HCASC YouTube channel.

Oakwood will face Dillard University, a New Orleans-based HBCU, at 5 p.m., while Alabama A&M will face a famous Alabama HBCU – Tuskegee University – at 6 p.m.

The winners will advance to round 4 on Monday, and those winners will advance to the finals – a best 2 of 3 competition – on Tuesday.
