2nd Annual MSU-West Plains Welding ContestOzark Radio News
WESTERN PLAINS, Mo. – Missouri State University-West Plains (MSU-WP) officials will hold their second annual Welding Competition on January 20, 2023 at the Terry L. “Bo” Pace Industrial Science Center.
Area high school students who are in a welding program at their high school or at a technical training center and are interested in welding as a career are encouraged to apply, organizers said.
Prize money for first, second and third place will be awarded and each participant will receive a t-shirt and other gifts, they added.
Students from 27 secondary schools and technical training centers in the region were invited to participate. Registration forms are available from teachers or counselors at those schools, organizers said.
“We have already received applications from area schools, so there is once again great interest in the event this year,” said Sheila Barton, director of workforce development at MSU- WP.
Attendance is limited to 30 students this year, so those interested should contact their professors or advisors for registration forms and return them as soon as possible, she added.
