’22 Grand Cherokee freezes the competition – Saratogian
Redesigned, revamped and ready to roll.
In the spirit of passion, Jeep still surfaces atop the Grasso garage. What Stellantis has done for the automotive industry recently is breathtaking, as its pursuit of offering unfathomable options to the consumer is extraordinary. On our all-new, redesigned 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit Reserve tester, we once again experience excellence.
With its exquisite two-tone exterior, in beautiful Silver Zenith, the Grand Cherokee Summit is certainly a looker.
“A look at a new Grand Cherokee will show that Jeep is no longer necessarily a mainstream brand,” said Matt Smith, associate editor at CarGurus. “These SUVs are priced closer to a luxury vehicle, but they also feel luxurious. The Summit trim costs nearly $60,000, but it’s upholstered in Nappa leather and has a massive, state-of-the-art-operating touchscreen Start ticking the boxes for optional equipment, and you may also end up with one of the best car stereos we’ve ever heard.
“Its price puts it in more competition with a Land Rover than a Toyota, but luckily it looks and feels closer to the former.”
Our Summitt Reserve tester had a gorgeous Global Black Interior Palermo leather that had nice orange stitching, a 10.1-inch touchscreen Uconnect 5 infotainment system with navigation, the advanced protech group 4 package including head-up display, night vision and auto-dimming mirror all for an economical price of $1,995.
Two engine options with either a 3.6-liter V6 engine, standard, or the 5.7-liter Hemi V8 engine for an additional $3,295. An eight-speed automatic transmission is standard, along with all-wheel drive. Optional third-row seats are also available, but on our six-cylinder we enjoyed the five-seat version.
“The original Grand Cherokee represented a unique blend of off-road capability paired with luxury and on-road refinement,” said Karl Brauer, executive analyst at iSeecars.com. “The latest model continues the tradition with far superior performance in both environments. The 2022 Grand Cherokee takes advantage of the latest technology to extend its off-road prowess while creating one of the most technologically advanced interiors available in the SUV class.
“The result is a luxury vehicle capable of pampering the whole family on a highway trip to Moab or Telluride before conquering aggressive and scenic off-road adventures.”
Sometimes it’s enough to give credit where credit is due and to say Jeep has done it again is an understatement. As it continues to dominate American competition like Tahoe and Navigator, it’s time for you to experience what the Grand Cherokee has to offer.
