We’ll take a look at the details of the top eight teams that have already qualified for the 2021 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Super 12 round.
AUSTRALIA
The Australian cricket team is fifth in the ICC T20I rankings. They will be eager to win their very first World Cup in the shortest format in the game. But for that they will have to turn the tide as their recent form has not been great. They have lost three of the five games played recently. In the recent head-to-head scenario, Australia lags behind England and the West Indies, but has an advantage over the Proteas.
Their skipper Aaron Finch was their best batsman in the shortest format in the game. He is third in the ICC T20I Batsmen rankings. Aston Agar and Adam Zampa are the only two Australians in the ICC T20I ranking for bowlers.
Aaron Finch, the Australian skipper told ICC: âHaving played a lot there (UAE) over the past four or five years, I think we will agree on how our plan has unfolded, compared to if it was in India. We expect the wickets to be pretty similar: a bit of a bend, and probably more and more and slower as the tournament progresses.
AFGHANISTAN
The Afghan cricket team have repeatedly shown their ability to perform well in T20 matches. They are ranked seventh in the ICC T20Is ranking, ahead of the powerful Windies. The Afghanistan team are in good shape after winning four of the five games played recently. Skipper Rashid Khan will play a key role in the campaign in Afghanistan. He is second in the ICC T20I ranking for bowlers. Afghanistan has in its ranks the multipurpose number T20I, Mohammad Nabi.
Rashid Khan told ICC: âI am convinced that a captain is as good as his team. It is my duty now to serve my country and my team.
ENGLAND
England are the number 1 ranked T20I team in the world. In the recent head-to-head, they beat all the teams in their group. They are in brilliant shape after whitewashing Sri Lanka in the recent T20I series.
Top-notch drummer Dawid Malan, who is the world’s No.1 drummer, will be a key player for the England squad. With England’s explosive arsenal, they will be the team to beat in the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup.
âIndia is going to be in the World Cup as a favorite – and I think it’s justified. It’s a very strong team, they also have a lot of depth in their team and have all the bases covered. We are currently on a different path than we were entering the 2019 50th World Cup â, Eoin Morgan told the ICC.
INDIA

India won the inaugural ICC T20 World Cup season in 2007. They have a fiery batting team including Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant. The Indian team has a brilliant record against their opponents Pakistan, Afghanistan and New Zealand. Skipper Virat Kohli holds the record for most of T20I men’s cricket history, with 3,159 races to his name with an average of 52.65.
Overall, the Indian squad is a very balanced team, with most of the bases covered.
Virat Kohli told ICC: âEngland will be the team to beat. They are number one in the world and the focus will be on them. All other teams will be wary of the strengths they bring to the park. All the other teams will agree with me.
NEW ZEALAND

The New Zealand cricket team are having a great run, having won four of their last five matches. They are third in the ICC T20I ranking. In the recent head-to-head record, New Zealand beat Pakistan 2-1 but lost to India 5-0.
New Zealand rookie Devon Conway has impressed everyone during a short international career. In 11 innings so far, he’s averaging 59.12 with 473 points at a career strike rate of 151.12. With Guptill, Southee, Boult and Williamson in their arsenal, New Zealand will be a tough team to beat.
PAKISTAN

The Pakistani team of Babar Azam is fourth in the ICC T20I ranking. They are in good shape after winning the last five T20Is contested. Skipper Babar Azam holds the record for the fewest rounds (52) up to the 2,000 point mark in the men’s T20I. Pakistan does not have a great record against opposing teams in its group. Despite this, given their unpredictable nature, opposition teams will be aware of the threat Pakistan poses.
âWe have no problem in the higher order. We all settled into our positions, and the only problems we had were in our average order. When it comes for me or Babar to change positions for the good of the team, we will, of course, be ready to make sacrifices, âMohammad Rizwan told the ICC.
WEST INDIES

The West Indies have won three of the five recently played T20I matches. Head-to-head recently, they had an advantage over Australia and England, but lagged against South Africa. The impeccable punching ability of the West Indies batsmen makes them the most dangerous team in the ICC T20 World Cup.
Phil Simmons said addressing the ICC: âWe need to think a little more and be a little smarter in our cricket, smarter especially in these seven to 14 overs (period). We were good at the back, but we need to work on the mid section.
South Africa
The South African team does not have a great recent record against other teams in its group. They lost the most recent series to England and Australia. South African wrist spinner Tabraiz Shamsi is the number 1 bowler in the ICC T20I rankings. For South Africa to win the 2021 ICC T20 World Cup, Shamsi will need to play a major role.
âIf you look at South Africa, we’ve always been a more than competitive unit, even to the point where the guys have come to the No. 1 positions. [in the world]. For me, it’s about trying to define a style of play, to create something that empowers us and, above all, to be able to institute this style of play in all conditions and all occasions â, said the skipper Proteas. Temba Bavuma at ICC.
